Shelly Laslo
I’m Shelly, a self-taught illustrator living in almost-always sunny Israel. I’ve been drawing since I was little, mostly beautiful ladies with ridiculously long lashes.
In high school, my note-taking consisted mostly of drawing in the page margins.I completed my Bachelor of Fashion Design Degree at Shenkar College, but soon realized that illustration was what I needed to be doing. My career has included everything from illustrating graphics for baby clothes, creating hand-drawn fonts, and illustration for apps. I love experimenting with new media; my favorites being watercolor and my iPad Pro.
Children’s books are a new endeavor for me, and I’m so excited by the opportunity to make kids experience the magical worlds I will create. I love how character creation is a combination of choice and surprise- on the one hand, I decide what they will look like, but when they are “done”, it’s like I’m meeting them for the first time! I’m fueled by cookies and milk, and a fierce love for my husband and two kids (not in that order).
