Rebecca Sheerin
I’m originally from Leeds but have now made my home in Leith, Scotland, close to where I studied BA (hons) Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art.
My pictures are bright and playful. I work in sections, making small paintings with gouache and power inks and then later add all the fine details with coloured pencil and crayons. I then compose the sections together digitally, drawing on my iPad and collaging in handmade textures.
I am also a keen printmaker. I enjoy switching on my riso brain, thinking in black and white layers. I’ve found this has influenced all my image creation and helped develop my style of rich colours, very textural with lots of fine details. I often find inspiration from my drawing trips to the Scottish coast. I like to escape the city and find weather beaten rural settings to paint in my sketchbook.
