Marie-Charlotte Yao
Marie-Charlotte – Macha for short – is a children’s illustrator originally from France. Having lived in East Asia, she is now in Leeds with her family.

Her journey as an artist began with a Master’s degree in film editing and special effects, including a brief stint as an overwhelmed intern at Cartoon Network in Paris!
Her 90s aesthetic art is filled with vibrant colours and sassy characters.
She strongly believes that children’s books should inspire and empower young readers to be confident in themselves and their abilities.
When she’s not busy creating, you’ll probably catch her grooving to some sweet tunes on her longboard, playing Nintendo, or lurking in stationery stores.
