Catherine Booth
Hello! I'm Catherine, a published children’s illustrator and storyteller from the North of England. I grew up in rainy Manchester where I still work today, at my small table overlooking the garden.
As an only child my imagination was captured by picture books, and I often lived half in reality and half in my own world. My work is influenced by creaky museums, imagination and movement, as well as my love for dance and the natural world. Whilst my illustrations are bright and playful, the celebration of friendships and imagination is an important part of my practice, and my favourite projects are those that allow me to infuse the richness of culture with a meaningful and heart-warming story. I also host the Manchester meet-ups for illustrators in partnership with the AOI, and teach paint & sip events across the city. When I’m not making art I am a dance teacher, yogi and an experienced baker of crumbles!
