It was my love of history, and quest for a home where it’s impossible to fry an egg on the garden path, that brought me to a Georgian spa town nestled in the English countryside. It’s beautiful here, and the stark differences between my two homes never fails to inspire me.
I took a winding road to illustration which, as it turns out, was a brilliant thing.
Thanks to the animation industry I learnt how to breathe life into pretty much anything, and have a ball while doing it. Graphic Design showed me the power of type and how expressive it can be, and my time as an Art Director convinced me that true beauty lies in authenticity, and all the projects I loved best were for kids.
The one constant has been drawing. I’m passionate about creating quirky characters that are a playful reflection of the beautiful diversity I see in the world, and finding fresh ways to weave narrative with design. To this day, I’m hopelessly addicted to children's books and animation. And the smell of coloured pencil shavings brings me back to a sultry summer, cicadas singing, and a little girl drawing in the shade of a Eucalyptus Tree.
